Meet Marcus
Your Community Advocate
I've always valued serving my community:
In high school, I volunteered with the Tacoma Police Explorers and YMCA
Now, I'm a pastor at New Life Church in Spanaway
I also help families plan funerals when they don't have a church or Pastor.
To me, being a "Public Servant" means more than just a title. It means I'm responsible for helping people and meeting their needs.
I've served on the Bethel School Board since 2017. As Board President, I work hard for all students, staff, and families – no matter their background.
I'm running for County Council with no party label. Why? Because I believe putting people first is more important than political parties.
As your Council Member, I'll fight for both our urban and rural communities. We need to:
Save farmland
Help local businesses
Fix our roads and services
Support our youth
Make housing cheaper
Keep our neighborhoods safe
I'm ready to continue serving you and your families. I hope to keep earning your vote!
Hi, I'm Marcus Young. I'm running to be your next Pierce County Council Member for District 3.
Family is the most important thing to me. I'm a proud dad to 8 kids, including 3 nephews we adopted. My wife and I work hard to give our blended family a good life, but it's challenging in the current environment.
I grew up in Tacoma's Hilltop neighborhood. Born to teen parents, my grandmother and great-grandmother stepped in to raise me. They taught me the value and importance of service and community.
As a young child, I helped feed homeless people at our church. I also visited nursing homes to spend time with the elderly that were either forgotten about or no longer had family living near them.
Those experiences shaped who I am today.
